The Indiana General Assembly passed legislation to finance a $900 million expansion of the Indiana Convention Center. The expansion, which will double the size of the convention center by 2010, is expected to begin this summer. When the project is complete, the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis will offer 583,700 contiguous square feet of exhibit space, plus 150,000 square feet of additional exhibit space available as part of a new, attached multi-purpose stadium. The center will also offer 250,000 square feet of ballroom and meeting space, including a new 68,000-square-foot ballroom to accompany the existing 33,000-square-foot Sagamore Ballroom.
