CCI Case Study: SBNA Airport Expansion

General Contractor: Walton Construction

The SBNA Airport in Springfield, Missouri has recently been given the go-ahead on its third expansion phase. The current terminal has run out of room to park jetliners overnight. Operationally speaking, this is a vital problem. 14 jet liners park in Springfield over night. In the new terminal, everything is on one level. You'll be able to park your car and walk to the airplane without going up or down a step. This is part of a growing effort to make public facilities more accessible and easier to use. Even though it's only partially finished, certain elements of the new terminal immediately strike the casual observer: huge porcelain tiles cover walls in hues: tan, gray, and beige. Glass walls wrap around the building in shades of blue, green, and aqua. Seen from a distance the intent of the tile and glass is clear: the terminal is one with the landscape. The team in charge of designing the new expansion chose to use Custom Coatings Inc. to complete its painting and finishing work. With over 800,000 expected customers this year, the SBNA will be a place of beauty, which was made possible by the CCI team.
